Music Generation South Dublin young musicians get a taste for album recording with Ben Folds
Young musicians from Music Generation South Dublin partners Suburban Sounds, a music making programme of Noise Dublin, took time out to meet multi-award-winning musician composer Ben Folds and his band while they were recording their new album in Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin.
The group of young musicians performed a new piece for Ben and his band, with lots of encouragement and support from special guest the American Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O'Malley and National Director of Music Generation Rosaleen Molloy. They also had the opportunity to sit in on some of the band rehearsals and to see behind the scenes in a busy world renowned music recording studio.
Suburban Sounds is an evening-course in music which is open to young people (aged 14- 18yrs) with a passion for song writing, music composition and/or music performance. It is hosted by South Dublin County Arts Office and CONTACT Studio in association with Alternative Entertainments and runs annually from October to April. The group works with professional musicians, hosts their own gig and records a CD at the close of the programme.
