A NATION’S VOICE- CELEBRATING THE 1916 CENTENARY

The Helix was the meeting place for 31 Irish choirs on Saturday 23rd of January as they came together to rehearse for ‪A Nation's Voice, a celebration of the 1916 Centenary. Our talented young choir from Scoil Chrónáin, Rathcoole and our brilliant tutor Amy Ryan all made us very proud as they participated in the 1100 strong choir. They are all working hard towards the free open-air performance which will take place on Easter Sunday afternoon at Collins Barracks, Dublin and will include the world première of One Hundred Years a Nation, a major new orchestral and choral work by Shaun Davey with text by writer Paul Muldoon. 1100 singers will join with the full forces of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and will be conducted David Brophy.

A Nation’s Voice is presented by the Arts Council and RTÉ, in association with the National Museum of Ireland, Association of Irish Choirs and Music Generation as part of Ireland 2016.
